2019 Shiraz
Organic farming practices, minimal intervention winemaking.
Vineyard:
The fruit comes from a vineyard in Harcourt North, Central Victoria. Harcourt is a cooler pocket located in the Bendigo wine region, and this vineyard sits up high above the Harcourt Valley on a granitic outcrop. The vineyard is approx 500m ASL and is the highest (and probably coolest) vineyard in the Bendigo GI. The vineyard soils are composed of granitic slabs and boulders, interspersed with sandy decomposed granite. The vineyard being atop a windy hill means disease pressure is super low, and organic farming practices are utilised.
Gosh, this is just so yum. Slosh of dark berry, ripe plum, loaded with regional white pepper, but just so, and flickers of fennel and sweet earth too. A sheath of lacy tannins shapes the brooding slurpy feel of the palate. There’s cola-sarsaparilla in the mix too. Character and complexity with high, high drinkability. Unreal. 94 Points."
