2020 Streamside Shiraz
“The ultimate fly fishing wine. Chuck it in the river, and enjoy chilled at the end of your day fishing.”
Grown on sandy granitic loams on a hilltop site overlooking the Harcourt Valley, a cool climate pocket of Central Victoria. The vineyard is approx 500m ASL and is the highest (and probably coolest) vineyard in the Bendigo GI. The vineyard soils are composed of granitic slabs and boulders, interspersed with sand. Farmed by Carolen and Bernie, vineyard managed organically.
Whole bunches placed in fermenter, and covered with CO2 for 12 days of carbonic maceration. After this, a gentle pigeage by foot, and allowed to macerate overnight. Pressed into stainless steel, where it was left for the winter. Racked once before bottling and 45ppm of SO2 added.
Tastes of: Cherry, sour raspberry, white strawberry zing.
