Perfumed, light, fragrant Pinot Noir, grown on Granite. An incredibly lifted Pinot filled with red and blue berries.

Vineyard:
From Faraday, about five mins down the road from our winery in Harcourt. Sandy granitic soils, grown at high elevation, around 475m, on the cool south side of Mt Alexander. A few locals have nicknamed the vineyard site Leanganook - this is the indigenous name for Mt Alexander.

This is probably the coolest site in the Bendigo GI, facing south towards Mt Macedon. This site cops a lot of the cooler south westerly weather patterns, and is a proper cool climate site, making it ideal for Pinot Noir. We are very excited to continue working with the Pinot grown on this granite.

Winemaking:
2023 was a particularly cool and wet vintage for Central Victoria, and this one of our last picks of the year, coming in late April. The fruit was destemmed, and fermented on skins for around 8 days, with regular plunging. After pressing, the wine spent the winter in stainless steel. Racked once before bottling in Jan 2024. Being a Dijon clone, this pinot is structured, and savoury, whilst remaining incredibly bright and very perfumed due to stainless treatment.

Review by Mike Bennie, 15 June 2024:

Quite a pale, rose-ish looking wine in glass but depth beyond that too, per se. Tart cherry scents, touches of game meat, pot pourri, sweet, leafy herbal notes, a touch of truffle and mushroom too. Similar to taste, a good dose of that sous bois and meatiness in flavours, light raspberry, bright cherry, cherry candy notes, a delicious mesh of things in a light frame. Slippery, soft texture too, with a bright twist of blood orange to finish. Really lovely.
