Tasting notes

In the glass.

An ode to those super thirst quenching half way rose, half way reds, that still have some structure and interest about them...Central VIC's answer to Tavel maybe??!

2026's blend of this wine comprises 50% Shiraz, 25% Cabernet Franc, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon.

  • Vineyard

Shiraz fruit comes from our own vineyard in Harcourt North. Well drained sandy granitic soils make up the vineyard, creating expressive, driven wines, with freshness and minerality to the fore.

Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon, come from a vineyard just down the road in Big Hill, the beginning of the Harcourt Granit Massif. This vineyard was planted in the early 1970s, making it one of the oldest blocks in the district.

  • Winemaking

Whole bunches of Shiraz are placed in fermenter, and covered with CO2 for 12 days of carbonic maceration. After this, a gentle pigeage by foot, and allowed to macerate overnight. Pressed into stainless steel, where it was left for the winter. Blended in the spring with direct press Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon, that was also raised in stainless over winter.
